Parental consent requirement

Chapter 1: Licensing Information › Applying for your Alberta driver’s licence · printed page 16 (PDF page 18)

Parental consent requirement Minors (under 18) applying for a driver’s licence for the first time must have a parent or legal guardian accompany them to a registry office, show proof of guardianship, and sign a consent form. The guardian has the right to revoke their consent in writing until the minor turns 18. If revoked, the licence will be suspended. A parent/guardian signature is not needed if the minor provides proof of marriage or self-support.
